Artist Statement

Ive been taking art classes since elementary, and I love how free I feel when making an art piece. Drawing and Painting is one of the few classes where I could express my creativity, without there being a wrong answer on how to approach a piece. My favorite drawing materials are colored pencils for their versatility and blendability when making an art piece. The piece I liked the most was the tiger acrylic painting. It looks the most similar to the reference than any of my other art pieces, and I feel that I did a very good job in color matching and making the tiger an butterflies proportional in reference to the collage. Before this class, I had never painted with oil and acrylic paint, so I got to experience both mediums, which was very fun, even though at first I was a bit intimidated by the thought of painting as I believed it was very hard to do. Drawing and Painting has been a learning experience for me, helping me take my art skills to the next level by experimenting with new materials, and improving on my existing skillset.
